Preoxygenated silk refers to the fiber formed by preoxidized fiber (PAN) after pretreatment. A pre-oxidized fiber is a high-strength, high-modulus fiber typically made from a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) polymer. Before preparing the preoxygenated silk, the PAN fiber needs to undergo a pre-treatment step called preoxidation. The pre-oxidized fiber has high carbonization properties, that is, at high temperatures, it can undergo further heat treatment to obtain high-purity carbon fiber.
