Rock wool insulation board is a commonly used multi-functional material, with excellent thermal insulation, fire retardant, sound absorption and sound insulation properties, widely used in construction, petrochemical and other fields.
Although the rock wool insulation board has excellent performance, it will lose its performance once it is soaked in water, and long-term immersion will also reduce the service life. Whether the rock wool insulation board can be used in a room with water or humidity is a problem worth discussing.
Whether a material can be used in wet or watery places depends on its waterproof performance, hydrophobic performance and water absorption performance. According to the national standard, the hydrophobic rate of the rock wool insulation board is >98%, and the water absorption rate is<5%, therefore, the rock wool insulation board has excellent hydrophobic performance, and the rock wool fiber is almost non-absorbent.
However, the rock wool insulation board is a porous open structure, and water will enter from the gap between the fibers, thus affecting the performance of the rock wool insulation board, so the rock wool insulation board does not have waterproof performance. In addition, water repellency is achieved by increasing the surface tension of the fiber, once the external water pressure is greater than the surface tension, water will still enter the rock wool.
Therefore, in practical applications, especially in water or damp rooms, the use of rock wool insulation board needs to pay attention to the following points:
1, waterproof treatment: when using rock wool insulation board, it is necessary to waterproof the insulation layer. You can choose to use waterproof paint, waterproof film or other professional waterproof materials to prevent moisture from penetrating into the interior of the insulation board, thereby affecting its thermal insulation performance and service life.
2, joint treatment: When installing rock wool insulation board, should strictly grasp the joint treatment between the insulation board, ensure that the joint seal is good, avoid water infiltration through the joint insulation layer.
3. Regular inspection and maintenance: For rock wool insulation board in a humid environment for a long time, it is recommended to check its status regularly, especially to pay attention to whether there is damage or water seepage on the surface of the insulation board. Once the problem is found, the damaged thermal insulation board should be repaired or replaced in time to ensure its normal thermal insulation effect.
The rock wool insulation board has hydrophobic properties and does not absorb water, but does not have waterproof performance, so the rock wool insulation board needs to be waterproof when used in a room with water or humidity.
