Aerogel felt is a new type of thermal insulation material made of fiber and aerogel. It has excellent thermal insulation, sound absorption, noise reduction, fire and flame retardant properties, and has been widely used in various fields. Below, we will explain the physical properties of aerogel felt.
1. Density
The density of aerogel felt is relatively low, usually between 80-220 kg/m3. This makes it a very lightweight material that helps reduce the burden on the structure.
2. Thermal conductivity
Aerogel felt has excellent thermal insulation properties. Its thermal conductivity is very low, usually below 0.015 W/(m·K). This means that it effectively resizes heat conduction and provides good insulation, thus reducing the energy consumption of a building or equipment.
3. Tensile strength
Aerogel felt also has excellent tensile strength. Although its tensile strength is relatively low, generally between 3-20 kPa, this does not prevent its reliability in practical applications.
4. Water absorption
Water absorption is another important physical property. Aerogel felt has a very low water absorption, with a water absorption rate of 0.52%. This makes it effective against moisture penetration and corrosion.
5. Fire resistance
Aerogel felt also has excellent fire resistance. It can withstand high temperature environment, the general fire temperature is about 600℃, and the special aerogel felt can withstand high temperature of 3000℃. This makes it an ideal insulation material to effectively protect against flame and high-temperature radiation.
6. Acoustic performance
Aerogel felt also has excellent acoustic properties. It can effectively absorb sound and sound insulation, reduce noise transmission, and provide a good acoustic environment for buildings and equipment.
Aerogel felt has been widely used in construction, aerospace and energy fields due to its light weight, heat insulation, sound absorption, fire resistance and other physical properties
