Rubber and plastic insulation material is a kind of insulation material with excellent thermal insulation performance, in addition to its own materials, a large part of it comes from its internal closed cell foam structure. The formation of closed-cell foam structure of rubber and plastic insulation materials is due to blowing agent, and the type of blowing agent has an important effect on the performance and quality of rubber and plastic insulation materials, and the main types of blowing agent include physical blowing agent, chemical blowing agent and mixed blowing agent.
1, physical blowing agent
Physical blowing agent refers to a blowing agent that releases gas through heating or pressure to form a foam structure of rubber and plastic materials. Common physical blowing agents include ammonia, carbon dioxide, butane, etc. These physical blowing agents release gas in the material, so that the material forms a closed cell structure, and improve the thermal insulation and mechanical properties of the insulation material.
2, chemical blowing agent
Chemical blowing agent refers to the chemical substance added in the preparation process of rubber and plastic materials, through the release of gas in the reaction process, forming foam structure of the blowing agent. Common chemical blowing agents include polychlorinated benzene (PCB), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HCFCs), etc. These chemical blowing agents can release gas in the production process of rubber and plastic materials to form small bubbles, thereby improving the thermal insulation and sound absorption properties of the material.
It is important to note that traditional chemical blowing agents, such as CFCs and HCFCs, have been phased out or banned.
3. Mix the blowing agent
Mixed blowing agents actually use a combination of physical and chemical blowing agents to balance the release and absorption of heat energy. An example of a mixed blowing agent is water and isocyanate, used in combination with liquid carbon dioxide, which boils and turns into a gaseous state.
There are many types of foaming agents for rubber and plastic insulation materials, and choosing the right type of foaming agent is very important for the performance and quality of rubber and plastic insulation materials.
